Session on Strengthening of MSMEs and Cooperatives held at Global Investors Summit

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah addressed the Global Investors Summit-2023’s session on “Strengthening of MSMEs and Cooperatives” Guest at Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, today. Many dignitaries including Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Shri Yogi Adityanath were present on the occasion.

In his address, the Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation said that this Global Investors Summit has been organized with a vision to bring investment in Uttar Pradesh and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has inaugurated it today in the morning. He said that the 3 days of this summit would prove very auspicious and fruitful for Uttar Pradesh for the coming 3 years.

Shri Amit Shah said that there are five conditions for bringing industry and investment in any state and making it a hub of production. The law and order situation in the state should be good, the infrastructure of the state should be good, the state government should determine its policies for industry and finance in a clear manner, the state government should run in a transparent manner and the state government should have the ability to take quick decisions. He said that there was a time when these five qualifications were not found in Uttar Pradesh, but today, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Government of Uttar Pradesh led by Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath, has implemented these five things. He said that the law and order situation has improved here and Uttar Pradesh is one of the few states with maximum investment in infrastructure in the country in the last 5 years. Apart from this, many policies have been made here in support of industries and in consonance with the Union Budget, the government is also working here in a transparent manner and along with this, quick decisions have also been taken here. Shri Shah said that in a way a very favorable environment has been created here for industry and investment.

The Union Home Minister said that as Uttar Pradesh has mass and velocity as well, hence it also has the momentum. He said that unless Uttar Pradesh moves forward on the path of development, our country cannot move forward, as from all perspectives, UP has highest importance. He said that along with the maximum area and population the possibilities are also unlimited in Uttar Pradesh.

He said that the development of Uttar Pradesh is very important to fulfill Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s dream of 5 trillion dollar economy. Therefore, taking Uttar Pradesh forward means accelerating India’s development

Shri Amit Shah said that the ‘One District, One Product’ scheme has been very successfully implemented in Uttar Pradesh. He said that with the organization of this Global Summit, a new beginning has been made today and it will continue unabated in the future too. He said that the summit is serving as a great platform for the global investment community, policy makers, corporate leadership, business delegations, academics, think tanks and leadership in Government. He added that after witnessing the potential of Uttar Pradesh, many countries have decided to partner with CII here.

The Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation said that the investors from across the globe are taking part in the summit and proposals of significant investments for different types of products like green hydrogen, renewable energy, electronics, healthcare, defence, food processing, dairy, Pharma, logistics have been received. Shri Shah said that the summit would prove to be a game-changer for Uttar Pradesh. He said that the Uttar Pradesh government has developed a centralized online incentive management system under the online single window system, Nivesh Mitra, which has more than 400 online services of various departments for industries. The portal will help eliminate many issues concerning the investors. He said that the Uttar Pradesh government has made 25 policies and implemented the same to invite industries for investment and facilitate them.

The Union Minister of Cooperation said that today’s program is for MSMEs and cooperatives. He said that with courage and strength, MSMEs only have the potential to become India’s biggest company. He said that the precondition for moving forward in industrial development is to clarify our policies for MSMEs. He said that under the leadership of Shri Yogi, the Uttar Pradesh government has clarified its policies for household industries through MSME and ODOP and also promoted them. He said that the initiative taken by the Uttar Pradesh government for MSMEs is commendable and unless the entire ecosystem is investment friendly in any state, industries cannot grow. Shri Shah said that there is a huge list of closed factories in the country because earlier the ecosystem was not good. He said that to create a good ecosystem in a big state like Uttar Pradesh, the issue of unemployment has to be addressed and alternative for employment has to be found. Shri Shah said that if any sector has maximum potential to provide employment, then it is in cooperative and MSME. He said that the policy made by the Government of Uttar Pradesh Under the leadership of Shri Yogi for MSMEs and the thrust given to it will generate employment in the coming days and with the generation of employment the entire ecosystem will improve and this will benefit big industries also.

Shri Amit Shah said that in the field of cooperatives also Uttar Pradesh has huge potential. Uttar Pradesh is the largest producer of food grains, Uttar Pradesh has vast land for agriculture, most hardworking farmers are also in Uttar Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh also has the largest amount of water. With all these factors, Uttar Pradesh has immense potential for agro-based industry, especially cooperative dairy.

The Union Home minister and Minister of cooperation said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi set up the Ministry of Cooperation for the first time after 75 years of independence. He said that the

Modi government has decided to do computerization of PACS, model bylaws are made for making PACS multipurpose, PACS have been permitted to function as Common Service Centres( CSCs), National Cooperative Database is created to find the gaps, National cooperative policy is being prepared.

Along with this lending institutions have been made the member in the Credit Guarantee Fund Trust, cooperatives have been given exemption for purchase on GEM portal, MAT has been reduced from 18% to 15%, many reliefs have been provided in the Income Tax Act, and three new multi state cooperatives have been created. One will connect a small farmer with the production of seeds, the second will make complete arrangements for the marketing of organic products and the third will also work for the export of agricultural products.

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation said that in coming months he will tour various parts of the country to strengthen and expand the cooperative sector.

Shri Amit Shah said that the Uttar Pradesh government has worked a lot in the field of infrastructure. He said that so many expressways have not been built in any state and as a result, every region of Uttar Pradesh has been connected with each other. He said that the maximum number of international airports are in Uttar Pradesh and very good marketing arrangements have been made for One District, One Product. Shri Shah said that after the construction of Noida International Airport, Uttar Pradesh will have the maximum traffic capacity. He said that there was a shortage of water in Bundelkhand, but now such a policy has been made that there should never be any shortage of water in Bundelkhand. The Uttar Pradesh government is also doing a very good work of coordination, under the PM Gatishakti National Master Plan. The first water route has started from Uttar Pradesh itself and the cost of transportation is going to be reduced by less than one-third after the construction of a complete waterway from here to Varanasi and Prayagraj to Howrah. He said that it offers huge potential for the industries.

The Union Home Minister said that today industrialists from all the states of the country and also from all across the world have come to Lucknow. He said that Uttar Pradesh will definitely benefit from this improvement in the environment, employment opportunities will increase for the youth of the state, and a huge global platform will be created for the young entrepreneurs of Uttar Pradesh. Along with this, the development of India will also gain momentum through the development of Uttar Pradesh and we will be able to fulfill Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s dream of 5 Trillion Dollar economy.
